Why do I get different numbers depending on the reports I am running for the same time period?

Comparing stats in ARMS to other reports or outside reports are highly dependent on what is being tallied. ARMS code list items are all user-specified and customized by your department. When running reports and comparing different ones together, the stats may be different just based on your incident codes being set up differently from one another.

For example, if a user was to run one report based on the classification of Theft and another report grouping all the theft codes together, the stats may be different just based on some of your Crime Codes not being classified as Theft properly.

Another item that can change based on running different reports is the choice of the report to run. In this case, a good example is running Dispatch logs. When running a total stat report for dispatch, the reports will pull based on the Final Incident input by the dispatcher, however, a departmental response report will calculate based on the initial incident since that would be the crime code the officer/department was responding to rather than what they found when they arrived.
