Getting Started\Adding a New Confidential Informant

The CI Management Module is used to create and manage confidential informants. Once created, these Informants can be listed as contacts in calls and cases, while only displaying their Informant number in the reports. CI Management is a security-controlled module that is granted or denied to personnel based on an agency’s needs.
Adding a New Confidential Informant
1. To add a new confidential informant, select the “CI Management” button from the main RMS toolbar.
2. Click the “Add” button.
3. Enter part of the person’s last name, first name, or both (A), then click the “Search” button (B) to see if the person exists in your database.
4. If no matches were found, follow steps 4a-4b; otherwise, follow steps 5a-5b.
4a. Enter the rest of the contact’s known demographic information (A), and then click the “Save” button (B).
4b. Enter any additional contact information, such as addresses, phone numbers, photos, custom fields, etc. Then click the “Choose” button to use the newly created contact.
5. If the contact exists in the database, follow steps 5a-5b.
5a. If the contact exists in the database, highlight their name from the search results window (A), and then click the “Choose” button (B).
5b. Update or add any new contact information, and then click the “Choose” button.
6. An informant number will automatically be generated, starting with 1001. This number can be changed to match an agency’s existing informant numbers or can be left as the automatically generated number.
