ABOUT THE TRACS SYSTEM
The Pennsylvania State Police started using TraCS which stands for Traffic and Criminal Software in 2010. With TraCS an officer can generate a citation electronically in the field. In addition, the TraCS interface has the functionality to submit the citation directly to the courts electronically.
The PSP licenses agreement permits them to give the TraCS software to any PA Police agency for free. TraCS is capable of doing both Traffic Citations, Warnings, and Crash Reports. We currently only support Traffic Citations.
Information about the TraCS system can be found here: TraCS Website
HOW DOES OUR TRACS INTERFACE WORK?
Our TRACS interface is similar to the CAD monitor application. There is a TRACS directory monitor that runs as an application at startup. The directory monitor monitors a dump directory. When it finds an XML file it moves the file to a hold directory and the auto process application processes the file. Then after being processed, the file is moved to the appropriate storage directory. Two additional executable files, ISS_PROC_MON.exe and TRACSReboot.exe, are used to monitor the interface to keep it running continuously.
