Using a Confidential Informant in a Call or Case

            1. For an informant to properly display in a call or case, the role of “Informant” must be used. From the Contacts window, select “Informant” in the role drop-down list (A), and then click the blue word “Person” (B).

            *Tips:
You will need the informant’s number to add them as a contact to a call or case. If you don’t know the informant’s number, use CI Management to look up the number prior to adding the contact.

            2. From the Person window, enter “INFORMANT” as the last name, the informant number (1001) as the first name (A), and then click the “Search” button. (B)

            3. Click the “Choose” button on the results grid.

            4. Click the “Choose” button from the Person Management window to add the contact to the case.

            5. The informant will be listed under the “Contacts” window in the case.

            !Did You Know?
The informant number and the role of informant will display on the printed case report. There will be no Master Name Index entry for the person related to the informant number. The only way to gather information about an informant is through access to the CI Management module.
