How do I associate property with a CAD event or Case Report?

Associating Existing Property with Case(s) or CAD Event(s):
There are 3 different ways ARMS V2 allows its users to enter the property into the property file:

1.        From within CAD (Function>>Property/Evidence)
2.        From within Case Management (Function>>Add Property)
3.        From the main ARMS Record System menu (ARMS Record System>>Property/Evidence)

How a property item is associated with other records such as CAD events or case records greatly depends on where that piece of property was added. It is very important to remember that a property item will only be associated with a CAD or Case record if it was added through either of those modules’ Function menus.

Adding a piece of property through the ARMS Records System does not associate the property with any other record. However, that doesn’t mean property added through the ARMS Record System can’t be associated with a CAD event or case record later.

In order to associate an existing piece of property to a CAD event or case record, follow these steps:
1. Open the CAD or Case record that the property needs to be associated with by using the find function (Ctrl-f), or by paging to it using Ctrl-n or Ctrl-p. In this example, we'll say I have chosen a CAD record with the CAD Event number 05-03-10-003968.
2. Choose the Property/Evidence menu item. Doing so will bring up the Add Property window.
3. After the Add Property window is open, use the Look-Up button to open the Property Query window. Notice that the CAD number that the property will be associated with is in the upper left-hand corner.
4. Within the Property Query window, the desired property item can be found by searching under any number of criteria. The property search will return a variety of results depending on what criteria were used to perform the search. If the property number is known, a search by property number is likely the quickest.
5. Clicking on the desired property record in the results data grid, will then populate the details of that property record into the main Property/Evidence window. The main window will be in modify mode in case any changes need to be made. Clicking Save now will associate that property with the Case or CAD record we initially pulled up (in my case 05-03-10-003968).
